Cricklesingers Choir

Cricklesingers is friendly, welcoming community choir which meets weekly on Thursdays from 1900-2100. There’s no audition, you don’t need to be able to read music, and you won’t have to sing on your own (unless you want to). We charge a small termly fee to cover the cost of our marvellous Musical Director. and of purchasing new music. The group is currently accepting new members, so please complete the form linked to below to express an interest and find out more.

Joining Cricklesingers

We meet every Thursday in term time, at the library. Rehearsals run from 1900-2100, with a short break for a biscuit and chat in the middle.

We are currently recruiting sopranos, tenors and basses. For now, we are lucky enough to have plenty of altos, but places often open up during the year. If  you’re an alto, please join the waitlist. If you’re happy to sing soprano or tenor instead, great – sign up!

If you’re not sure, give any section a go and we’ll find the right spot for you.

Not Enough Sopranos!

We have a waiting list to join our Alto section at present. If you’re interested, please use the form below to join it. Alternatively, maybe give the soprano or tenor section a go? You never know!

How to Join

We accept new members where we have part vacancies in the first half of each term only. You are welcome to attend a taster session in the second half of any term, but we would then ask you to join formally from the first week of the new term.

Fill in this form and we’ll be in touch.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals take place on Thursday evenings, from 1900-2100. Please sign up to the Whatsapp Group if you’re a choir member.

Cricklesingers Website

We have our own website for sharing of music resources. It is accessible here. You’ll need the password. Please ask on Whatsapp or at a rehearsal for this.

Performances

We try to perform at least once a term, because it’s good to have something to work towards. We normally perform on the last rehearsal of every term. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Fees

Fees depend on how many members we have, and can therefore go down or up, depending on membership. Our membership is currently quite stable and fees have remained at £6 per session, paid termly in advance. This means that most terms cost between £60 and £80 depending on the number of weeks. Your first session is free.

If possible, we prefer payment by BACs transfer, but our friendly treasurer, Sandy, is always open to discussing other ways of payment, or payment plans if needed.

What to Bring

Wear loose, comfortable clothing, and bring a bottle of water, a pen and a notepad.

Repertoire

Our Musical Director, Enda, chooses a varied repertoire of songs to suit the choir’s composition. It’s an eclectic mix of pop, folk, world and ancient music so far. You won’t be bored!
