The Christian faith originated in a time when there were many faiths and these faiths offered up myths and legends around plants that many of us now incorporate into our Xmas traditions. Songs, stories and a variety of plants have been adopted over the years from many cultures and countries. We will talk about these plants and consider their origins and the various myths and legends that surround them.
The talk will be given by Elayne Coakes. Elayne learnt to garden by doing and creating, and now on her 3rd garden she is happy with the results. Even though it is still evolving Self-taught, she has combined research, reading and creativity, along with visiting manygardens, in many countries, with her husband, which allowed them to take away ideas, to design a garden of eclectic planting that has been featured in magazines, TV, and the National Garden Scheme Yellow Book.
She loves clematis and has written a number of article for the British journal and now obsesses over succulents and dry, wildlife friendly, sustainable gardening.
