Charity Pub Quiz Date Announced

We’re very pleased to announce that NW2 Residents Association are supporting the Friends of Cricklewood Library campaign by organising a pub quiz with all proceeds going towards funding the reopening of the library.

The pub quiz will be at The Queensbury, 110 Walm Lane (opposite Willesden Green tube station) on Tuesday 9 May, from 1930 onwards. There will be a raffle and fantastic prizes to be won, and we’re lucky enough to have Shaun Wallace of The Chase making an appearance.

So, get your teams together, choose a name and bring along your thinking caps for the Quiz of the Year. Maximum team size 6 persons, £5.00 entry fee per person.

First Library Table Day a Success!

We had our first Library Table Day today, on a cold, blustery, grey February day, enlivened only by the great coffee, tasty cakes, good company and general air of bonhomie. We had visitors from the Park Run (hi Park Run people!), families looking at flats in the development across the road, a smattering of dog walkers (with very cute pooches!) and some cold, but friendly random passers-by join us for a cuppa and a natter about the library.

We had some volunteers sign up for the mailing list and for the many, many tasks that lie ahead. The plan is to run monthly table events until we open the library later in the year. Can you volunteer to help at them? The upcoming dates are (all Saturdays 1000-1300):

25 March
22 April
27 May
24 June
22 July
26 August

It’s a fun way to meet your neighbours and get to know your community better. If you can help, email us on info@cricklewoodlibrary.org.uk for more info.

Brent Culture Open Day

We’re very pleased to be taking part in Brent Culture Open Day on https://www.brent.gov.uk/events-and-whats-on-calendar/events/brent-culture-open-day/ on 18 February, 12:00-16:00. Come along and find out more about our plans for the library. We’ll be sharing a table with our colleagues from our three sister libraries: Preston, Barham and Kensal Rise.

CrickFest 2016

Despite the awful drizzly weather, Cricklewooders were out in force yesterday to enjoy the stalls, live music, networking and entertainment on offer at this year’s annual Cricklewood Festival. Cricklewood Library had a stall enthusiastically staffed by volunteers Sonja, Annie, Steven, Mary and Wendy, signed up a few new subscribers to our email list, met some new friends and people we’re eager to start working with. A few exciting ideas emerged from discussions at the festival, so watch this space for more info on that very soon. Some pictures below give a flavour of the day.

A big thanks from all of us on the library team to the organisers, Danny and Osita.

Cultural Open Day

Come along and have your say at the Brent Culture and Community Libraries Forum this coming weekend. This is your chance to influence what goes on in Brent’s libraries, to take part in some free and fun activities, and to meet the organisers from various budding community libraries in the borough, including the team from Cricklewood Library. There will also be an opportunity to explore the treasures of the Brent archive and find out more about the area you live in. And prizes apparently! What’s not to like?

We are always on the lookout for new volunteers to get involved in getting our library off the ground, so we’d be delighted to see you there.
