We’re hoping to extend our opening hours every week by offering a session on Fridays in the after school slot between 1500 and 1800. We’ve had a lot of demand from local parents and carers of school age children for more time for borrowing after school. At the moment it can be a bit rushed to get to the library after school and to have enough time to browse before borrowing. So we hope this slot will do that. It should also give people on the way home from work a chance to pop in too, with luck.
At the moment we don’t have enough volunteers to operate a cafe service at this time, but we’ll get there as soon as we can. In the meantime, we could always do with more volunteers – sign up here.
We’re starting an exciting new project in March. We’ll be training up to 10 volunteers to teach local residents how to access Zoom. The training will cover
Overview of the Zoom interface (as a refresher and to make sure everyone is on the same page)
Consideration for facilitation, safeguarding guidelines
Creating invites
Some of the common issues for helping other access Zoom.
Once trained, the volunteers will contact local people who would like to start using Zoom, to keep in touch with friends and family, or to enjoy our up-coming online programme of events. If you know of someone who could benefit from this training, get in touch! The training will help beneficiaries to overcome concerns and potential barriers faced, develop online skills, build confidence, become more independent, and do useful things like access online applications and services.
We need volunteers to join us for our monthly table days outside the library. The table days are where we meet our future and potential users, so they’re vital to help us shape the new library. They’re also very social – it’s a great way to meet your neighbours over a cup of coffee and slice of chocolate brownie.
See how much fun we had yesterday? Jogging to keep warm? Even the cold weather couldn’t dampen our spirits!
If you’d like a bit of this, please volunteer for the next one…. We’ll be outside the library again, collecting email addresses for the mailing list, collecting donations and generally making friends, on Saturday 25 March, 1000-1300. Come on down and be part of the new library buzz.
Email us on info@cricklewoodlibrary.org.uk if you want to get involved.
Thanks to new volunteer, Giuseppina for this video.
We urgently need someone to help us with our finances and preparation of our annual accounts. Can you help? More info about the role is available here:Â https://reachskills.org.uk/opp/finance-volunteer-2
