There has been a library in Cricklewood for almost 90 years, starting out in Mora Road School in 1923. The old building has of course now been demolished to make way for flats and the new library. Work on the original building was started in December 1928, and it opened to great fanfare in June 1929.

The images below are extracts from the book published to commemorate the opening of the library and give a flavour of the sense of anticipation and excitement which surrounded the new library’s opening.

If you have stories about the old library that you’d like to share, we’d love to hear them. You can tell us about them on our Facebook and Twitter pages, or email us using our contact form.
